Zokin are traditional Japanese dustrags which are almost always made from layered and sashiko stitched scraps of cloth.

This is a very handsome zokin which is sewn from recycled cotton cloth, probably about three layers in all.  The sashiko stitching is eccentrically done in green cotton thread adds charm to this otherwise utilitarian cloth, as do the contrasting patches of  cotton on the sides of the zokin.

A wonderful zokin with lovely stitching.
