A Wide Sakiori Obi: Subtle Colored Ragweave

$95.00 USD

mid twentieth century
115" x 11 3/4", 292 cm x 29.5 cm

This is a very subtly colored and woven sakiori obi, or a rustic, traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cloth as its weft yarn.

The warp yarns on this obi are a cream colored cotton which give the obi's overall color a softness of tone.  The weft yarns are fed in stripes of a black, grey and a purple color and in combination with the cream colored warp the woven effect is lovely and muted.

This handsome obi is in good, used condition and shows a faint crease down the center of the obi, as it was once folded it half when it was worn by its owner.

A sophisticated, elegant folk textile.
