A Wide Sakiori Obi: Pale Coral Tones
mid twentieth century
120" x 10", 305 cm x 25.5 cm
This is a good looking and quite wide sakiori obi, or a rustic, traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cotton cloth as its weft yarn.
Its coloration is based in bars of tones of mottled very pale coral/orange and tones of solid color bars of two shades of dull, soft orange.
The warp yarns are of peach toned cotton which give an overall pale coral haze of color and tone to the obi. This kimono sash is in good, used condition--it is sturdy and the colors are handsome. I
A beautiful, richly toned folk textile in a fairly unusual color palette--and a good example of a sakiori obi.
