A Very Scrappy Layered Boro Fragment: Soft Colors, Soft Cotton
$45.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
33 1/2" x 11", 85 cm x 28 cm
This softly colored length of peeling, abraded, layered boro cloth is hand stitched from indigo dyed cotton which, like its color, has softened over time.
The layering of the cloth and its surface abrasion are really attractive, as is the stitching which is barely holding all the cloth together.
Most likely taken from a futon cover that was hand stitched from discarded household textiles and clothing, this lovely boro nugget shows good color and wonderful, rough texture.
A rustic beauty.
