A Very Rustic Undyed Kaya Panel: Patched and Coarse Yarns

$55.00 USD

ca. early twentieth century
71" x 13", 180.5 cm x 33 cm

This length of kaya, or Japanese hemp mosquito netting, is woven from yarns that are very rustic and are almost wiry in their appearance.

Therefore, the weaving on this piece is loose and textural--and quite beautiful.

The undyed color is that of dark wheat, and the one, lone cotton patch with its eccentric stitching is a wonderful, stark detail, which adds visual interest and authenticity to this old mosquito netting.

Just wonderful.
