A Very Long Boro Panel: Gauzy Cotton and Beautiful Patches
$85.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
90" x 14", 228.5 cm x 35.5 cm
This very long boro cloth is hand stitched from two very different types--and weights--of cotton cloth.
The long, indigo dyed bottom piece is gauzy and lightweight. The top piece, a basket weave called sankuzushi, is heavier in weight and wider than the bottom piece.
There are beautiful patches which stud the length of this boro cloth, and pay special attention to the patch which is stitched in a star-shaped configuration, shown in the accompanying photos here.
A beautiful old boro piece.
