A Very Large Boro Futon Cover: Bold Passage of Indigo Dyed Shibori

$425.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
89" x 44 1/4", 226 cm x 112 cm

This is a quite large and very handsome futon cover that has been hand stitched from many pieces of recycled cotton, the most prominent pieces are those of the high-contrast, white-on-blue shibori cotton.

The arrangement of the blocks of cloth that create this futon cover is orderly and arranged with precision. The cloth seems to have been made in two sections--there is a horizontal center seam that indicates this.

The cloth that makes up this futon cover is light in weight overall and there is just one layer of cloth that comprises this large domestic textile.

There is sufficient diversity of cloth types in the whole to make it visually appealing, the balance and calm of the placement of the blocks is a joy to behold.

This is a very attractive large boro textile with a surprising mixture of cloth.

Recommended.
