A Very Attracitive Boro Length: Thick White Stitches
ca. early to mid twentieth century
63" x 13", 160 cm x 33 cm
This is a wonderfully artful clear length of boro cloth, hand stitched from thick, white cotton thread and comprised of seven separate pieces of cloth.
The overall look is just beautiful for its subtle color and
for the many areas of cloth which comprise each of its segments. Note especially the way in which the thick cotton mending threads provide a bright accent to the somber colored, hand loomed base cloth. And we offer apologies for the poor photography which represents this piece: it is much clearer and more attractive than some of the accompanying photographs illustrate.
