This is a two-panel boro cloth which is composed mostly of pale colored cloth. It seems to have been taken from a larger piece, a futon cover.

The base cloth is hand loomed, possibly hand spun, undyed cotton which over time has gathered a mottled, slightly stained dull grey color. The piece is entirely hand stitched.

The cloth is studded with wonderful patches that range in size from small to large: one of the most prominent patches, a black-and-white design, is a fragment of a chuusen dyed cloth and is charming in and of itself.

White patches and other indigo dyed cotton patches are mixed up on the surface of this unusual boro piece to create a artful cloth of unintended beauty.
