A Two Panel Boro Cloth: Beautifully Woven Cotton
$75.00 USD
mid twentieth century
45" x 24", 114 cm x 61 cm
This lovely, two-panel boro cotton cloth is, of course, completely hand stitched, and what is interesting about the base cloth is that it yarn dyed, not piece dyed.
The cloth is warped with alternating indigo and white yarns and the weft is fed with indigo cotton yarns which give the cloth its wonderful, slightly variegated blue and white color.
The piece is composed from three pieces of the same cloth and shows a dozen patches, each cut from the same cloth as the base.
A subtle and beautifully simple boro cloth, this one is interesting from the threads up.
