A Traditional Sweets Hand Carved Wooden Mold: Umbrella Couples

$35.00 USD

early twentieth century
3" x 14 3/4" x 7/8", 7.5 cm x 37.5 cm x 2.25 cm

This is a kashigata or a hand carved wood mold that is used to make hand-made, traditional Japanese sweets or kashi.

There are three carved impressions on this mold, each one showing a fairly unusual image of two, closed umbrellas.

In nicely used condition, this charming, traditional confectionary tool can still be put to good use.
