A Thick Daifukucho: Sparsely Written Ledger

$35.00 USD

ca. late nineteenth century
11 1/2" x 5 1/4" x 1 1/4", 29 cm x 13.25 cm x 3 cm

This is a very nice, old daifukucho, an hand bound, hand written book which could have originally been used for inventories, for accounting, for ledgers or as a record of loans.

This one is thick with many pages, about 1/3 of which is filled with hand writing done in sumi or charcoal-based ink.  Its two covers show hand written kanji or Chinese characters, there are tabs affixed to certain pages, and the binding and tie to the book is original to the piece.

A good example of a traditional daifukucho, with its original, intact cording.
