A Textured, Multi-Colored Sakiori Obi: Rag Woven Kimono Sash

$115.00 USD

 mid twentieth century
110" x 5 1/2", 279.5 cm x 14 cm

This is a richly colored and woven sakiori obi, or a rustic, traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cloth as its weft yarn.

The warp yarns on this obi are white, red and black which accounts for the vaguely plaid effect. The weft yarns are fed in regularly spaced blocks of saturated and rich colors.

This hand woven sakiori obi is in very good condition, with no visible stains or holes, and it is a very handsome example of a traditional, sakiori weaving.

A beautifully colored, beautifully woven folk textile.
