A Tattered and Threadbare Red Colored Boro Cloth: Lining Fabrics

$185.00 USD

early twentieth century
42" x 40", 107 cm x 101.5 cm

This is a lightweight, tattered and threadbare, pieced and patched cotton textile that is made in an unusual red color which is not botanical.

More than likely this cloth was pieced together from thinly woven kimono linings which, traditionally and in many cases, are in the orange or red color families.

As said before and as the detail photos indicate, this is a somewhat delicate cloth with its worn-away parts and its clusters of holes, many of which are indicated on the photos that accompany this post.

This cloth may be a section taken from a larger one and the subtle color variation of reds and deep, dull red-oranges is very attractive.

Recommended.
