A SubtleTwo Layer Boro Length: Narrow Stripes
$70.00 USD
ca. late nineteenth, early twentieth century
69 1/2" x 14", 176 cm x 35.5 cm
Talk about subtle, this length of boro cotton defines the term.
It is sewn from two layers of cloth, but barely. The pieced, narrow striped "grey" cloth is hand stitched from five pieces; there are two applied patches to the cloth.
This striped "top layer" is lightly tacked to a long length of indigo which is hand stitched from two different pieces of cotton. If done carefully, the striped cloth can easily be separated from indigo backing.
A lovely thing, and lots of great, old cloth to be had.
