A Striped Silk Boro Length: Four Patches

$50.00 USD

ca. mid to late nineteenth century
34" x 14", 86.5 cm x 35.5 cm

This is a very simple but very beautiful length of indigo dyed boro silk which shows woven, deep colored narrow stripes.  The silk itself is quite heavy and stiff, and the color is a deep and rich sapphire blue.

Onto the cloth four patches of the same silk are hand stitched, creating a subtle contrast between the patches and the base cloth.  The condition is good overall, with a tight, glossy surface.

A lovely and richly colored length of hand loomed silk from old Japan--which, when back lit, looks fantastic.
