A Striped Boro Panel: Lovely Patina
ca. mid to late nineteenth century
73" x 14", 185.5 cm x 35.5 cm
The beauty of this old length of hand loomed, indigo dyed cotton is in its age, its wear, its fading and its patina.
The wide stripes are really beautiful, and made more so from the years of wear that have lightened the color of the cloth. The length is comprised of two pieces which are hand stitched together.
There is one, large patch of plaid cotton and a small hole at the bottom of the piece.
Lovely, and very reminiscent of old Japan.
