A Stitched Length of Cloth: Stripes and Plaid
$45.00 USD
ca. early twentieth century
82" x 12 1/4", 208 cm x 30.5 cm
This is a long piece of wonderful hand woven cotton, the length being composed of two pieces of different cottons which are hand stitched together.
The top fragment is a finely woven striped cloth which was probably taken from a kimono. The bottom piece is a bold and graphic plaid cloth which was probably taken from a futon cover. The bottom piece, the plaid, shows one small patch and a spray of match head sized holes.
A charming piece of cloth with good age and color.
