A Smattering of Patches: A Plaid Cotton Boro Length
early to mid twentieth century
55" x 13 1/4", 139.75 cm x 33.5 cm
This is a beautiful, eye-dazzling length of indigo dyed cotton boro cloth: it is beautiful for its plaid base cloth against which is set a profusion of hand-applied patches of various types of cotton, about twenty in all.
The base cloth is heavily starched and is a lovely, graphic, blue on white plaid.
The patches are small in size or long and narrow, and they are comprised of about seven or eight different types of cottons; their mix upon the plaid under cloth is visually interesting.
Overall this lovely boro length is in good condition with not obvious stains, tears or holes.
Really, really attractive and heavily patched.
