A Small Square Textured Zokin: Sashiko Stitched Dust Rag
mid twentieth century
8 3/4" x 8 3/4", 22.25 cm x 22.25 cm
Zokin are traditional Japanese dustrags which are almost always made from layered and sashiko stitched scraps of cloth.
This is a small-sized and very handsome zokin which is sewn from pieced-together recycled cotton cloth which has been beautifully sashiko stitched, giving the hand woven cotton cloth a wonderful, crinkly texture.
The stitching is beautifully executed. Just wonderful.
A very good looking zokin with a lovely composition and good color.
