A Small Boro Hemp Furoshiki: Patches and Stitches
$45.00 USD
ca. early to mid twentieth century
26" x 24", 66 cm x 61 cm
This is a little gem-of-a-boro textile: it is a small, hemp furoshiki, or carrying cloth. It is hand stitched from hand loomed, undyed hemp cloth and it shows three cotton patches and a small island of tight mending stitches which is configured in a kind of soft square.
This full-of-character hemp textile is sewn from two pieces and although it was washed, it still shows some faint staining from wear.
A lovely little, traditional cloth from old Japan.
