A Sliver of 19th Century Tsutsugaki Dyed Boro: Handspun Cotton
$40.00 USD
mid to late nineteenth century
58" x 8", 147 cm x 20 cm
This long, unusually shaped length of patched, mended and layered, indigo dyed cotton was taken from a yogi or a sleeping kimono.
Its appeal is in its good age--about 150 years old--and because of that, its fine, hand spun cotton yarns and its wonderful fading, wear and patching.
The added bonus is the charming, free hand resist dyed tsutsugaki embellishment of young pine which graces the bottom, front of this old, worn boro fragment.
Super lovely and with great age and character.
