A Short Patched Boro Textile: Noragi Sleeve
ca. early twentieth century
24" x 13"< 61 cm x 33 cm
This charming, small indigo dyed cotton cloth seems to have been a sleeve from a noragi or work coat.
The base cloth is a hand loomed indigo dyed cotton and shows three applied patches. Turn the piece around (the reverse is not shown) and another patch is on the reverse side, the stitching for the patch can be seen on the proper front of the piece.
A wonderful little boro "sketch" that contains very nice hand loomed cotton--and has a lot of personality.
