A Short, Patched Boro Length: Good Old Plaid Cotton
$30.00 USD
early twentieth century
36" x 13", 91.5 cm x 33 cm
This is a short length of patched and stitched hand woven, hand spun indigo dyed cotton that dates from the early twentieth century or perhaps even before.
It shows a the same plaid cloth patched on top of itself but because there are various degrees of light fading to the pieces of the cloth they appear to be different types of cloth, which is an illusion.
The thick, white sashiko stitching is a great accent, but it is the soulful, very old handwoven cotton cloth that is the reason to acquire this piece.
A beautiful length of indigo dyed cotton from old Japan.
