A Short Fragment of Good Zanshi: Woven Leftover Threads
$30.00 USD
ca. early twentieth century
23" x 14", 58.5 cm x 35.5 cm
This is short piece of very nice and lightweight hand woven cotton which is called zanshi-ori.
Zanshi-ori is cloth which is woven from leftover threads: if you look at some of the warp yarns on this piece you will see that kasuri or ikat yarns are used here, and the effect is a kind of random and blurred blue and white.
There is one, hand stitched patch to the complex plaid base cloth which is indigo dyed and of good color.
