A Short, Beautifully Woven and Colored Sakiori Obi: Rag Weaving
**reduced from $75.00**
mid twentieth century
88" x 6", 254 cm x 12.5 cm
This is a lovely sakiori obi, or a rustic, traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cotton cloth as its weft yarn.
Its coloration is based in bars of rich tones of mottled marroon and striated oranges that make their way up the length of the obi.
The warp yarns are of black, tan and off white dyed cotton which give depth of color and tone to the obi.
This kimono sash is in good, used condition with the exception of one small area of loss to the selvedge as shown on the detail photos here. Otherwise it is sturdy and the colors are handsome.
A beautiful, richly toned folk textile and a good example of a sakiori obi.
