A Shibori Zokin: Tie Dyed Dustrag

$20.00 USD

ca. mid twentieth century
11 1/2" x 7", 29 cm x 17.5 cm

This zokin, or sashiko stitched dustrag, is sewn from layers of cotton cloth--and is amply clear from the photos--is then densely stictched together.

What makes this zokin so interesting is that it is sewn from an old cotton piece of shibori dyed cloth, blue against white.  The shibori dyed area of the proper front of the cloth is occupies most of the area, and is quite graphic and attractive.

The indigo blue of the shibori is most likely not botanical indigo, but the graphic appeal is immediate, and lovely.
