A Set of DIY Shibori Patterns: Home Made Shibori
ca. early to mid twentieth century
each page: 21 1/2" x 15 1/2", 54.5 cm x 39 cm
This is a set of about 14 different leaves of paper, each imprinted with a different design intended to be used as a guideline for a "do it yourself" shibori project. This set is intended for use by women and girls in the home.
There are written instructions on each of the pages (in Japanese) that talk about about the application for the design, with different suggestions for uses, etc. The paper wrapper which holds the patterns has been torn from age and use.
A wonderful, vintage set of shibori patterns that capture a moment in Japan's history, probably in the 1930s.
Just lovely.
