A Sekka Shibori Yukata: Indigo Dyed Cotton Casual Kimono
early to mid twentieth century
49 1/2" x 47", 125.5 cm x 119.5 cm
This is a beautiful, indigo dyed cotton sekka itajime shibori yukata which is an unlined, casual kimono.
The sekka or snow flower pattern is an often-seen shibori technique especially used on casual kimono, under kimono, children's garments and diapers. The overall condition of the yukata is good and used with a few stray bits of dye, a very small hole to the proper right sleeve (back) and a faint stain to the bottom, proper, right hem, all which are attempted to be illustrated in the accompanying detail photographs.
The cotton is lightweight and is lightly starched. The yukata is entirely wearable and can be easily hand washed if you decide to acquire and wear this.
A really lovely yukata and one that has a good deal of visual appeal.
