A Sample of Fine Shibori Dyed Cotton: Undulating Stitched Lines

$65.00 USD

mid twentieth century
24" x 13", 61 cm x 33 cm

This is a fragment of very finely made indigo dyed cotton shibori that was used as a dyer's sample. The cloth comes from Arimatsu which can be considered the shibori capital of Japan.

The work is very detailed and is more or less perfect in its execution of the chosen motif. In this case it is stitched type of shibori that is done in undulating, horizontally-arranged parallel lines.

A wonderful example of very fine shibori.
