A Sakiori or Ragweave Obi: Rich Dark Color Tones
**reduced from $95.00**
mid twentieth century
128" x 9 1/4", 325 cm x 23.5 cm
This is a good looking sakiori obi, or a rustic, traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cotton cloth as its weft yarn.
Its coloration is wonderful for the rich, dark, mottled browns and greys that predominate the color scheme.
The warp yarns are of black dyed cotton which give the overall color tone of the obi an added richness of color.
This kimono sash is in good, used condition--it is sturdy and the colors are handsome. Please note that when originally worn the obi was folded lengthwise and evidence of this crease is imbedded into the obi.
A beautiful, richly toned folk textile in a fairly unusual color palette and a good example of a sakiori obi.
