A Sakiori Obi in Handsome Color Tones: Rag Woven Kimono Sash

$105.00 USD

mid twentieth century
120 cm x 6 1/2", 305 cm x 16.5 cm

This is a nicely colored and woven sakiori obi, or a traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cloth as its weft yarn.

The warp yarns on this obi are white in color.  The weft yarns--thin, shredded rags--are evenly spaced bars in shades of orange and mottled white/grey.

This hand woven sakiori obi is in very good condition, with no visible holes or stains, and it is a very handsome example of a traditional, sakiori weaving.

This is an elegantly colored, beautifully woven folk textile.
