A Sakiori Obi in Brown Tones: Rag Woven Kimono Sash
$95.00 USD
mid twentieth century
112" x 5 1/4", 284.5 cm x 13.25 cm
This is a nicely colored and woven sakiori obi, or a traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cloth as its weft yarn.
The warp yarns on this two-toned brown-on-brown obi are black in color. The weft yarns--thin, shredded rags--are woven in regular, block-like horizontal stripes of equal widty.
This hand woven sakiori obi is in very good condition, with no visible holes or stains, and it is a very handsome example of a traditional, sakiori weaving.
This is an elegantly colored, beautifully woven folk textile.
