A Sakiori Obi: Deeply Toned Rag Weave
$95.00 USD
mid twentieth century
96" x 7", 244 cm x 17.75 cm
This is a lovely sakiori obi, or a rustic, traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cotton cloth as its weft yarn.
Its coloration is bright and the tones are saturated: predominate colors are vermillion and a blue/purple, both slightly variegated.
The warp yarns are of red and white dyed cotton which give the obi its rich color and its two white stripes.
This kimono sash is in good, used condition--it is sturdy and the colors are intense.
A beautiful, richly toned folk textile in a fairly unusual color palette and a good example of a sakiori obi.
