A Sakiori Obi: Beautiful, Mottled Colors

$95.00 USD

mid twentieth century
116" x 5", 294.5 cm x 12.75 cm

This is a good looking sakiori obi, or a rustic, traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cotton cloth as its weft yarn. This particular obi seems to have been woven from a combination of rag yarns and thick, cotton yarns.

Its coloration is wonderful for its warm, ochre-like tones, for the variegated or mottled passages and for the hints of green color that act as a foil to the otherwise warm tones that compose color palette.

The warp yarns are of cream cotton with a few darker tones that add visual interest.

This kimono sash is in good, used condition--it is sturdy and the colors are handsome. It is a good example of a sakiori obi.
