A Richly Toned Sakiori Obi: White Blips

$95.00 USD

mid twentieth century
110" x 6", 279.5 cm x 15 cm

This is a lovely sakiori obi, or a rustic, traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cloth as its weft yarn.

The warp yarns are of a brown color which add a richness of tone to the already richly colored rag weft yarns. The weft yarns are of a brown and a mottled purple color. The surprise, of course, is the staggered and regular placement of the white supplementary weft yarns which create a nice series of blips up the piece.

This lovely obi is in very good condition, with no visible stains or holes.

A beautiful, elegant folk textile.
