zokin is a traditional Japanese dust cloth or cleaning rag; it is usually made from old pieces of cloth and it is usually layered and stitched for durability.   Along with diapers, it is said that zokin are among the traditional household textiles that represent the end of the line where the repurposing or recycling of cloth is concerned.

This one is wonderful for several reasons. The hemp stitching is desirable and the two chain stitched family crests on each side of the cloth make it more so.

The zokin presented here is one that stands above the others for what is noted above and for, too, its good size.
