A Prismatically Complex Handwoven Plaid: Cotton
$35.00 USD
ca. early twentieth century
62" x 13 1/4", 157.5 cm x 33.5 cm
This is a length of hand loomed cotton cloth, the pattern being bold blocks of complex plaid which are created by wide swaths of similarly design warp and weft yarns.
The colors are a black/blue background which is shot through with a intersecting palette of ochres and rusts, the crossing of warp and weft giving a light-flickering effect.
The cloth is starched, and is in good, used condition
It is really lovely with a somewhat unusual color and design.
