A Printed Cotton Boro Cloth: Meandering Stitches and Many Patches
$35.00 USD
mid twentieth century
27" x 28", 68.5 cm x 71 cm
This slightly off-square textile is made of commercially produced cotton that has been patched, stitched and repaired. It is starched.
The patches are fairly large and take up about half the surface area of the piece; the stitches are at times eccentric and serve to create strength to weakened cloth.
This piece comes to life when it is backlit as can be seen on the Instagram post here shown here: https://www.instagram.com/p/B_FWAmCHWyx/
A fun boro textile from the mid twentieth century.
