A Plaid-on-Plaid Boro Panel: Same Fabric Patches
early twentieth century
66 1/2" x 13 1/2", 169 cm x 34.25 cm
This is a really beautifully designed length of indigo dyed plaid cotton cloth whose yarns seem to be hand spun--and certainly this piece is completely hand woven.
What is wonderful about it, aside from its good color and design, is that fact that the length is patched with pieces of the same cloth as the base, which give a slightly jarred, fractured look to the plaid surface of the length.
In overall good, used condition, this piece of cloth is still very bright and sturdy and is extremely attractive to look at.
