A Pieced Cotton Mat: Two Distinct Sides

$65.00 USD

mid twentieth century
19" x 38", 48.25 cm x 96.5 cm

This is a kind of mat or sitting cloth or something else--it is made from indigo dyed cotton kasuri and is backed in pieces of white, recycled cotton cloth with one patch of striped cotton on the lower left hand corner.

The hand stitching is done in black thread which is offset nicely against the white cotton.

The cloth seems not to have been used although there are zones of exceedingly faint evidence of almost-imperceptible soiling to the white cloth.
