A Patched Length of Striped Cotton: Kasuri Yarns

$75.00 USD

late nineteenth, early twentieth century
66 1/4" x 13 1/4", 165.5 cm x 33.5 cm

This is a length of sturdily hand woven indigo dyed cotton that shows wide stripes in various grades of color and width.

The dark passages are flecked with white slivers of undyed cotton yarn which is more than likely left over kasuri yarns. The subtle variation in tone within these wide channels is in nice contrast to the medium toned blue of the vertical stripes that flank it.

Two hand stitched mending patches break up the design of the stripes and this adds a bit of visual interest to the lenght.

It is a lovely length of old, indigo dyed cotton stripes and one that can be used in any manner of home decor, fashion projects or just to be admired for its intrinsic beauty.
