A Patched Length of Soft Cotton Kaya: Supple Texture
early to mid twentieth century
69" x 13 1/2", 175 cm x 34.25 cm
This beautifully worn length of patched cotton kaya or mosquito netting has been used so well that its texture is soft and supple.
It would make a wonderful scarf.
The richly indigo dyed cotton base cloth is mesh-like and kind of clingy in character, and it is studded with lovely cotton mending patches shown in the accompanying photos here. Please note a small hole, a bit of a tear to the lower left selvedge and overall surface wear.
A beautiful color palette, this length is simply beautiful.
