An Almost-Entire Bolt of Itajime Shibori Cotton: Large-Scale Hemp Leaf Pattern

$395.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
8 yards x 13", 7.3 m x 33 cm

This is a length of boldly patterned itajime shibori cotton cloth, the clamp dyed shibori being done in indigo.

It measures to almost one full bolt which is usually around 11 yards or 10 meters.

The pattern is very interesting because it shows one of Japan's most well-used designs of which there are endless variants, that of the asa no ha or hemp leaf pattern. It is boldly dyed in large scale on this length of lightweight cotton.

The undyed white cotton is a nice counterpart to the indigo blue tone of the rangy, large-scale, traditional pattern and the generous length of this bolt holds much potential for many textile-related projects.

The cloth is in very good condition and it is seemingly unused.
