A Partial Bolt of Cotton Zanshi ori: Left Over Yarn Weaving
mid twentieth century
approximately 4 3/4 yards x 14", 4.5 m x 3.5 cm
This is several yards of cotton cloth woven from leftover yarns or zanshi ori, the most obvious clue to this being the several inches/centimeters at the lead of the roll which shows a richly variegated passage of multi-colored cotton yarns.
The balance of the yardage is very subtle and some does not show much variation at all.
The cloth was most likely woven on a power loom, possibly of an old variety, and the cotton yarns seem machine spun.
The color is rich in tone and the cotton is heavy in weight. Very good for interiors projects; maybe too heavy for apparel.
