This wonderful object is a woven bamboo, winnower-shaped scoop that has been completely pasted over with small pieces of old, hand written ledger paper.

This kind of treatment of baskets, boxes and the like was common practice in Japan and the randomly artful effects are just wonderful to behold.

As can be seen the condition is good and used and as an object this textural one has wonderful visual appeal.
