A Nicely Patched Boro Length: Noragi Sleeve
$30.00 USD
ca. early twentieth century
23 1/2" x 13", 59.5 cm x 33 cm
This length of indigo dyed boro cotton is a fragment from a noragi or a work coat and this lovely, short length shows 8 patches which cover a great deal of the surface area of this small boro cloth.
The base cloth is a striped cotton which by its soft hand tells us the garment was worn hard.
There is a bit of a tear under the patch on the top, left portion of the noragi sleeve, and a few, small holes to the top edge, shown in the accompanying photographs.
Humble and lovely with great character, color and artfulness.
