A Neutral Colored Boro Panel: Taupes

$45.00 USD

ca. early to mid twentieth century
40" x 27", 101.5 cm x 68.5 cm

This scrappy and patched boro cloth is hand stitched from what appears to be commercially produced, old, fairly lightweight cotton twills that are all similarly colored, the color being a kind of dull spectrum of neutrals.

There are about 6 applied patches to the base cloth which is composed of about 7 separate pieces.  The hand stitching used to apply these patches to the base is really lovely, and the overall effect  is everything you would expect to see on an old boro cloth.  The boro cloth is a bit delicate from wear, but not feeble.

Most likely this fragment was taken from a futon cover or a furoshiki.

Lovely, earthy and quite boro.
