A Narrow Sashiko Stitched Bag: Blue on Blue Lattice

This long, lined bag is dyed a soft, medium-toned indigo color and its diagonal, "lattice" patterned sashiko stitching is also the same color.

The stitching is tight and expertly done--the diamond pattern is exact in every way and it is in beautiful scale to the long and narrow proportion of the bag.

With the exception of one coin-sized hole and a few superficial nicks to the cloth, this bag is in very good, used condition. There is no staining.

The original use for the bag is unknown, but it is fun guessing what it might have been used for.

This is a very attractive old sheath-like bag.
