A Lovely Boro Length: Handsome Zanshi-ori Cloth
$95.00 USD
ca. early twentieth century
67" x 13 1/4", 170 cm x 33.5 cm
This gorgeous length of cloth is a panel of indigo dyed zanshi-ori, or cloth woven from
left over threads. The blue tones in this cloth are really vibrant,
clean and clear, and the random passages of weft information that travel
up and down the length of this boro cloth are really, really gorgeous.
The cloth is a rich, clear, deep blue that is punctuated by a subtle striation that can be seen in the warp yarns. Really, really nice.
And add to this the seven, very good patches that congregate at the bottom of this length, and which add tremendous beauty, you have a really stunning length of boro zanshi-ori cloth.
Pay special attention to the pale patches: these cotton patches are cut from the same cloth, however their light color has to do with the white weft which was fed against the varied blue weft. And also notice the thick, white stitching: simply gorgeous.
A wonderful and recommended length of very handsome, cotton boro cloth.
